Learning about Jesus through the Christmas School Outreach Program

Christmas Presentation at Triam Udom Suksa Nomklao Kabinburi School

Ms. Goongunya Pantasane is a 17-year-old student in grade 11 at Triam Udom Suksa Nomklao Kabinburi School in Prachinburi Province.

When Lutheran Hour Ministries Thailand (LHMT) did a Christmas School Outreach project in her school in December 2016, Ms. Goongunya heard the true meaning of Christmas and the story about Jesus for the first time.  She was fascinated by the story and immediately became interested in learning much more.

Mx. Goongunya says, “Through the LHMT Christmas outreach activity this past year I got to hear about Jesus Christ.  I want to learn more about Him.”  So, she applied to study our LHMT Children’s Bible Correspondence Course (BCC).  When our staff asked why she didn’t study the adult BCC instead, Ms. Goongunya replied that she preferred to study the Children’s BCC first.  Then she plans to study the adult BCC after finishing the Children’s BCC.

Our LHMT staff talked with a husband and wife who started Baan Piamrak preaching station near Ms. Goongunya’s school.  To follow up after our School Outreach Program they contacted Ms. Goongunya and visited her school.  The school administrators asked them to help all of the students learn about Christian values.  When the husband and wife began teaching Christian values at her school it was a good opportunity for Ms. Goongunya to learn more about Jesus.

Ms. Goongunya went to worship God at the preaching station and signed up to begin receiving encouraging Gospel text messages from LHMT on her mobile phone.  About our text message program she said, “Through the Gospel text messages I am getting good information about God and I’m receiving encouragement for my daily life.  I want to learn as much as I can about Christianity and God.  I feel like I now have happiness knowing that God is taking care of my life and, most importantly, I know that Jesus came to the world to save me from my sin.”

We pray that God’s Word will continue to grow in her life.

Learning Who Jesus is through the BCC

Mrs. Matika Sae-pan is a housewife who lives in Lampang Province. She is 53 years old.

Although she has a Christian mother, Mrs. Matika has never been a believer in Jesus. However, when someone introduced her to our Journey Into Light – Lutheran Hour Ministries Thailand (LHMT) Bible Correspondence Course (BCC), Mrs. Matika decided to sign up. Currently she is studying Course 1, Lesson 3.

During her life Mrs. Matika has encountered many obstacles and often feels discouraged. From what she has learned by studying the BCC she is happy to know that God is leading her daily life and she has confidence that God won’t leave her.

Mrs. Matika says, “Through the BCC I have learned who Jesus is and I understand how to live a Christian life. I’m interested in continuing to study. I’m very thankful to Journey Into Light – LHM Thailand.” Our staff introduced Mrs. Matika to Rabprakun Church. She already has attended worship there and the church has begun to nurture her spiritually.

Mrs. Matika asks for prayer that she’ll understand God’s Word better and that her husband and step-child also will come to know Jesus.

Listener Gathering in Konburi, Ratchasima Province

On Friday, March 17, 2017 some of our Lutheran Hour Ministries Thailand (LHMT) staff traveled 6 hours to Konburi District in Nakhonratchasima Province.  In 2016 our LHMT team conducted an Equipping the Saints training at Konburi Church and the church airs 3 LHMT radio programs on its community radio station, so we agreed to do a Listener Gathering there this year.

Mrs. Tongtip Hanpradit, the speaker of Relieve Your Worries

Although the main purpose for the trip was to conduct the Listener Gathering at Konburi Church on Saturday, March 18, one of our radio speakers was able to do a live broadcast on Konburi Church’s radio station shortly after our team arrived.  During the “Relieve Your Worries” broadcast the speaker invited listeners to attend the Listener Gathering the next morning.

A total of 87 people responded to the invitation and participated in the Listener Gathering from 10:00 a. m. – 12:00 noon.  Everyone enjoyed the activities and meeting our LHMT staff and radio speaker.

When our team returned to Bangkok Saturday evening they were tired but very happy that they were able to introduce so many people to the pastor and members of Konburi Church.

We thank God for safe travel and pray for the follow-up activities that Konburi Church will be doing with the people who attended the Listener Gathering.

Young Volunteers are an Important Part of Our Team

Our Lutheran Hour Ministries Thailand (LHMT) director and staff are very grateful for the work that so many volunteers do to assist us in our ministry activities.

One special group of volunteers is high school and university students who do special recordings for us.  During their school breaks they come to our studios and record Bible verses and special information spots that we use during our radio programs.  Listeners enjoy hearing their young voices and they provide variety during our broadcasts.

We thank God for these young people who are so generous with their time and who are very helpful to us.  Please pray that God will bless them and use them as His faithful servants.

A Better Life Because of Learning How to Rely on God

Mrs. Nittaya Wongpakdee is a 60-year-old housewife with four children who always worried and felt like she had no happiness in her life. Mrs. Nittaya lives in Suratthani Province where a local radio station broadcasts three programs produced by Lutheran Hour Ministries Thailand (LHMT).

When she began listening to the LHMT radio programs, Mrs. Nittaya found something positive in her life. She has been listening to all three programs, “Encouragement for You,” “Because You are Loved” and “Relieve Your Worries.” Mrs. Nittaya says, “After listening to the programs I feel relieved. I receive good information about how to live a happy life and I get to know who God is. These programs are very encouraging for my daily life.”

Our LHMT staff introduced Mrs. Nittaya to our Bible Correspondence Course (BCC) and referred her to Bandon Church, which is in her area. She has started studying the BCC and is going to the church to worship God and to study the Bible.

Mrs. Nittaya says that her life has changed in a better way since she is learning how to rely on God instead of herself.

We pray for Mrs. Nittaya, that she’ll be able to learn about the Christian life and that her faith will be strengthened, because she would like to be baptized.

Eager to Hear More About Jesus

16819151_1321801414562425_5144054088642600580_oMr. Chan Dehmoon is 61 years old. He is a retired soldier living in Pak Kred District in Nonthaburi Province, which is next to Bangkok.

For a long time Mr. Chan was feeling a lot of stress in his life, so he was seeking a way to have a better life. One Saturday afternoon Mr. Chan listened to the Lutheran Hour Ministries Thailand (LHMT) radio program, “Home for Love.” He immediately became very interested and continued to listen every Saturday.

Mr. Chan  said, “When I started listening to this program I felt very happy and I wanted to hear more from this speaker. The speaker talked about Jesus, so I wanted to hear more. I’m happy to hear the stories about Jesus and ideas about how I can have a happy life.”

Our LHMT team suggested that Mr. Chan study our Bible Correspondence Course (BCC) so he could learn more about Jesus. Mr. Chan began studying the BCC and our LHM Thailand staff introduced him to Pak Kred Church, so that he could continue to grow in his faith and knowledge about God.

Mr. Chan also said, “My life is changing. I don’t feel so much stress now. My life is more relaxed because I have had a chance to study the stories about Jesus and continue to listen to the ‘Home for Love’ radio program.”

Mr. Chan wants people to pray that he will be able to understand more and that his faith in Jesus will continue to grow.

Encouragement and Strength Through LHMT Radio Program

Mrs. Noklek Intarasoontorn is  a housewife who lives in Bangkok with her two small children and sick mother. Because her mother is unable to walk, she needs a lot of help from Mrs. Noklek every day, which is very tiring.

16487270_1305083862900847_113789262180862968_oOne day when Mrs. Noklek turned on the radio to rest for a while, she discovered the Lutheran Hour Ministries Thailand (LHMT) programs. The one that especially caught Mrs. Noklek’s attention was “Encouragement for You.” She says, “When I listen to this LHMT radio program I feel like I get help and support. It gives me strength to face my responsibilities each day.”

After Mrs. Noklek contacted our LHMT staff and asked our team to pray for her mother to get over her sickness, her mother was able to walk a little bit. Mrs. Noklek understood this to be a sign that the prayers were answered.

Because Mrs. Noklek really wanted to go to church, our team introduced her to Ruamprakun Church, which is close to her home. The pastor visited her a couple times and she began worshiping at the church.

Mrs. Noklek commented, “Now my life has changed from feeling down to feeling strengthened. God helped me to be a better person and to have a better life.”

Mrs. Noklek asks that we pray that her mother will be healthy soon, that her family will come to know Jesus as their Savior and that she will continue to grow in her faith.
