Product Sale and Ministry Booth at Pak Kred Church

On Sunday afternoon, March 8, 2015, some Lutheran Hour Ministries Thailand (LHMT)  staff went to Pak Kred Church in Bangkok.  The church is not far from the LHMT ministry center and the LHMT team has worked with this church several times in the past.

The LHMT team was not involved in any ministry activities, but was invited to set up a product sale with many items from the LHMT Christian bookstore.  There are not many Christian bookstores in Thailand.  By bringing Christian books, study materials, music CDs, Christian decorative pieces, Christian T-shirts, jewelry and other products to Pak Kred Church, the church members had a good chance to purchase things that usually were not easily available to them.

This also was a good opportunity for the LHMT team to set up a ministry booth, so that the people could learn about the various LHMT ministry activities.  By interacting with the church members who purchased the bookstore products and who visited the LHMT ministry booth, the LHMT staff were able to begin building some relationships with them.

The LHMT team received good feedback and appreciation from the church members.  Five people signed up to receive the encouraging Gospel text messages on their mobile phones each week and 60 copies of the Bible Correspondence Course (BCC) were requested for a Christian dormitory in Chiang Rai.  Pak Kred Church also asked for 3 complete sets of the Children’s BCC.

Our LHMT staff enjoyed being with the church members again and look forward to interacting with their church again in the future.

When Lutheran Hour Ministries Thailand (LHMT) recently conducted their first Equipping the Saints training in Chiang Rai Province in northern Thailand, the LHMT director met Mr. Bunperm Suriyamonthon.  Mr. Bunperm is the treasurer of a Christian school for hill tribe children in that area.  The school has about 300 students in kindergarten, 1,400 students in grades 1-6 and 1,000 students in grades 7-9.

As Mr. Bunperm was looking at the display of LHMT materials, he was very happy to see the LHMT Children’s Bible Correspondence Course (BCC).  He told the LHMT director that he has been looking for materials for teaching the character building and moral development classes in his school.  Mr. Bunperm believes that the Children’s BCC can be used for that.

This might be a good chance for LHMT to develop a program for working with a local Christian school.  If successful, perhaps it could be used to work with other Christian schools also.

Ministry Booth and Product Sale

???????????????????????????????From  8:00 am – 3:00 pm on June 18-20, 2014 Lutheran Hour Ministries Thailand (LHMT) had an opportunity to do a ministry booth and product sale at Thai Christian School in Bangkok.  During those days a Christian organization was doing special activities at the school, so the product sale fit well with that program.

Each day during breaks in their schedule and at the end of the day, the students and teachers were able to visit the LHMT area to purchase Bibles, Christian books, Christian music CDs, Christian T-shirts and jewelry and various other products from our Christian bookstore.  At the ministry booth they learned about the different LHMT ministry programs and had a chance to visit with our LHMT staff.

Not only was this a good chance for LHMT staff to sell products and introduce our materials to the teachers and students, but also 10 students and teachers signed up to begin receiving encouraging Gospel messages on their mobile phones and the school asked for 50 copies of the LHMT Bible Correspondence Course to give as prizes to the students.

New Christmas CD in Production

In 2010 Lutheran Hour Ministries Thailand (LHMT) produced a Christmas music CD entitled “Christmas Blessings.”  The CD featured several Thai traditional instruments and some Thai-style musical arrangements.  Eight traditional Christmas carols were recorded as instrumentals and two of those were repeated as vocals.

We received many very positive comments about that CD from Christians inThailand and abroad.  We thank God that “Christmas Blessings” was a blessing to so many people.

LHMT is now in the process of producing “Christmas Blessings Vol. 2.”  Eight different Christmas carols were chosen for this CD and recorded as instrumentals.  This year three of the songs were also recorded as vocals.  Some of our LHMT staff and two other singers graciously volunteered to sing for this album.

We pray that God will use “Christmas Blessings Vol. 2” to bring peace and joy to many people this Christmas.
