Eager to Hear More About Jesus

16819151_1321801414562425_5144054088642600580_oMr. Chan Dehmoon is 61 years old. He is a retired soldier living in Pak Kred District in Nonthaburi Province, which is next to Bangkok.

For a long time Mr. Chan was feeling a lot of stress in his life, so he was seeking a way to have a better life. One Saturday afternoon Mr. Chan listened to the Lutheran Hour Ministries Thailand (LHMT) radio program, “Home for Love.” He immediately became very interested and continued to listen every Saturday.

Mr. Chan  said, “When I started listening to this program I felt very happy and I wanted to hear more from this speaker. The speaker talked about Jesus, so I wanted to hear more. I’m happy to hear the stories about Jesus and ideas about how I can have a happy life.”

Our LHMT team suggested that Mr. Chan study our Bible Correspondence Course (BCC) so he could learn more about Jesus. Mr. Chan began studying the BCC and our LHM Thailand staff introduced him to Pak Kred Church, so that he could continue to grow in his faith and knowledge about God.

Mr. Chan also said, “My life is changing. I don’t feel so much stress now. My life is more relaxed because I have had a chance to study the stories about Jesus and continue to listen to the ‘Home for Love’ radio program.”

Mr. Chan wants people to pray that he will be able to understand more and that his faith in Jesus will continue to grow.

Encouragement and Strength Through LHMT Radio Program

Mrs. Noklek Intarasoontorn is  a housewife who lives in Bangkok with her two small children and sick mother. Because her mother is unable to walk, she needs a lot of help from Mrs. Noklek every day, which is very tiring.

16487270_1305083862900847_113789262180862968_oOne day when Mrs. Noklek turned on the radio to rest for a while, she discovered the Lutheran Hour Ministries Thailand (LHMT) programs. The one that especially caught Mrs. Noklek’s attention was “Encouragement for You.” She says, “When I listen to this LHMT radio program I feel like I get help and support. It gives me strength to face my responsibilities each day.”

After Mrs. Noklek contacted our LHMT staff and asked our team to pray for her mother to get over her sickness, her mother was able to walk a little bit. Mrs. Noklek understood this to be a sign that the prayers were answered.

Because Mrs. Noklek really wanted to go to church, our team introduced her to Ruamprakun Church, which is close to her home. The pastor visited her a couple times and she began worshiping at the church.

Mrs. Noklek commented, “Now my life has changed from feeling down to feeling strengthened. God helped me to be a better person and to have a better life.”

Mrs. Noklek asks that we pray that her mother will be healthy soon, that her family will come to know Jesus as their Savior and that she will continue to grow in her faith.

Live Radio Programs on Facebook

Lutheran Hour Ministries Thailand – Journey Into Light (LHMT) is experimenting with a new way to do outreach.  About 2 weeks ago we started to broadcast 3 live radio programs on Facebook.  The programs are Because You are loved; Encouragement for You and  Relieve Your Worries.

The programs are aired after 1:00 p.m. each week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.  Each program is 25-30 minutes long and contains very helpful information for people to have a happy life and to learn something about God’s love.  During the first weeks of using this format for our radio programs, our staff has been happy with how well it has worked and the responses that we have received from listeners.

ETS in Uttaradit Province

Lablae District in Uttaradit Province is a 6-hour drive from Bangkok and was the location for the Equipping the Saints (ETS) evangelistic training conducted by our Lutheran Hour Ministries Thailand – Journey Into Light (LHMT) team on February 11, 2017 at Thai Hua-Dong Church.

Although nearly 70 people from 8 churches were expected to join the training, 2 big weddings got scheduled in that area on the same day. As a result 38 people from 5 churches participated in our ETS workshop. The people who attended were very enthusiastic and thankful for the training that they received. They are eager to witness to their Buddhist family members and friends and were happy to receive more information and practical techniques for doing that.

One highlight of our time there was having 9 young adults involved in the workshop. Not only did they enjoy learning how to share their faith with non-Christians, but they also helped lead our time of worship.

At the end of the day 30 people became LHMT commissioned volunteers and 28 asked to begin receiving encouraging Gospel text messages from us on their mobile phones each week.

We thank God for the good response of the people who attended this ETS, for the relationships that we were able to begin forming and for safe travel for our LHMT team. We look forward to working with those volunteers in the future.

Faithful LHM Thailand Donors Visit Ministry Center

Our Lutheran Hour Ministries Thailand (LHMT) director and staff thank God for the many people who pray for us and for the international and local donors who support our ministry with their financial gifts.  These ministry partners are crucial to the success of our ministry in Thailand.  Although they take a personal interest in the Gospel work that we do, we often don’t get to know these supporters.  But, we always are happy when we receive a personal contact from any of them and it is especially exciting when we are able to meet them personally.

Two sisters who have been supporting LHMT for many years recently came to visit our director and staff in our ministry center on January 26, 2017.  They wanted to bring their donation in person and to meet us.  After enjoying a time of talking together, one of the sisters asked for prayer because she wasn’t feeling well.  We thank God that we were able to meet these sisters who have been supporting our ministry and to support them with our prayers.
