Visit to Radio Stations in Phang Nga Province

During the trip to conduct Listener Gatherings in Khok Kloi and Takuapa in Phang Nga Province, our Lutheran Hour Ministries Thailand (LHMT) staff and radio speaker also were able to visit two radio stations in that area.

The station in the town of Khok Kloi broadcasts on FM 97.25MHz. and is operated by Voice of Navy 14 Phang Nga.  Our LHMT staff and radio speaker were able to meet the agent there.  She said that the LHMT programs were very good and gave a lot of encouragement to the listeners.

When our team went to the town of Takuapa they were able to visit Radio Thailand Takuapa, FM 90.25MHz. The director encouraged us to continue producing our programs to be aired on that station.

We’re thankful that our team was able to meet the people at the radio stations and to get feedback from them about our radio programs.  We thank God that they enjoy our programs and that they want to continue broadcasting them in their area.

Two Listener Gatherings on One Weekend (Takuapa, Phang Nga Province)

lg-takuapa8On Saturday evening, September 3, 2016 Mr. Amnuay, one of our radio speakers, and our Lutheran Hour Ministry Thailand (LHMT) staff drove from Khok Kloi, after conducting a Listener Gathering program, to the town of Takuapa in Phang Nga Province, where they stayed that night.  On Sunday morning, September 4, 2016 they worshiped at Concordia Takuapa Lutheran Church and conducted the Listener Gathering in the afternoon.

Our staff led the people in the same games and activities as on Saturday, Mr. Amnuay gave his encouraging words and sang the song again and the local pastor shared some encouraging thoughts with everyone.

A total of 47 people attended, including 23 listeners, some guests and church members.  Two of the people who participated in the Listener Gathering were a couple who recently moved near the church.  When the pastor’s wife met them, she told them about our Listener Gathering and invited them to attend.  During the Listener Gathering they were happy to hear about our LHMT radio programs.  Although they are not Christians, they attended the church for the first time that morning.  The pastor and LHMT staff will be making follow-up contacts with them in the coming weeks.

The team returned to Bangkok on Monday.  We thank God for safe travel during the long rides, for good interactions with the listeners, guests and church members and for the opportunity to share the Gospel with everyone who participated in the 2 Listener Gatherings.

Two Listener Gatherings on One Weekend (Khok Kloi, Phang Nga Province)

lg-khok-klloi8September 2, 2016 was a long travel day for our Lutheran Hour Ministries Thailand (LHMT) staff.  They all rode in a van from Bangkok to Phang Nga Province in southern Thailand.  The trip of 800 kilometers (480 miles) took nearly 12 hours.

The purpose of the trip was to conduct 2 Listener Gatherings in Phang Nga Province.  The first was on Saturday, September 3 at Concordia Khok Kloi Lutheran Church in Takuatung District.  This gathering was for listeners of our LHMT radio program, “Encouragement for You.”  A total of 50 people attended, including 14 listeners, guests and church members.

Everyone enjoyed a program of games and fun activities before meeting the radio speaker, Mr. Amnuay Ruangchan.  It was a good time for our staff to connect with the listeners, have a good time together and begin building relationships.  In addition to meeting our LHMT staff the listeners and guests also learned more about our LHMT ministry programs.

When the listeners met Mr. Amnuay, he shared his personal experience as a believer in Jesus and how God has loved him and taken care of him.  He encouraged the listeners to trust in God, because God loves them and will never leave them alone.  Mr. Amnuay ended his talk by singing a song about when we have problems, we don’t need to be afraid.  God is with us and God is in control.

The local pastor then shared some encouraging words with the listeners and invited them to come to church and to learn more about God.

Usually our team and the local pastor visit some markets in the area to meet local people and invite them to attend the Listener Gathering.  Because of a very heavy rain storm that morning, our team was not able to visit the markets.

We thank God for safe travel and that everything went well with our Listener Gathering program in Khok Kloi.
