Father’s Day Activity

Father's Day01The king of Thailand’s birthday is December 5.  It’s also the date on which Father’s Day is celebrated in Thailand.  Again this year, the Lutheran Hour Ministries Thailand (LHMT) team used this special occasion to do an activity in front of our ministry center on December 3 and 4.

To celebrate the day and to make contacts with people living or working in the community surrounding our ministry center, the LHMT staff set up a table along the street outside our front door.  Using amplified music and announcements our team attracted the attention of people passing by and invited them to receive a special Father’s Day gift.  Each person who stopped at our table and provided us with their personal contact information was given a booklet about the Thai king’s philosophy of sufficiency living and the Christian view of fathers.

As people passed by on their way to work both mornings and during the two lunch times, LHMT staff met 191 people who asked for the gift booklet.  In the near future the LHMT team will make follow-up contacts with these people to inform them about the ministries of LHMT and to continue communicating with them.

Through the years, doing games and activities in front of our ministry center has proven to be a good way for the LHMT staff to meet and get to know some of the people who live in the community or walk by their building nearly every day.
