Students enjoyed learning the true meaning of love

The Lutheran Hour Ministries Thailand (LHMT) staff traveled to Bangbon District in Bangkok on February 13, 2015 to conduct a school outreach program at Sathanee Promdan School.

In cooperation with Pastor Niwate Gietsornsi and members from Aekachai Baptist Church, the LHMT team conducted a Valentine program for 171 students in grades 3-6.  From 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. they led the teachers and students in some fun games, Christian songs and love songs.  The primary goal for the morning was to share the true meaning of love with the students.

To give the students a chance to see true love in action the LHMT team used the video “The Bridgemaster and His Son.”  The video also was an opportunity for the LHMT team to do an English activity with the students.  Since the video some sentences written in English instead of dialog, the students could practice reading English, learn some new vocabulary words and more easily understand what was happening in the story.

At the end of the video some of the students answered questions about the video and received prizes for their correct answers.

When the program was finished, every student was given a gift pack and the 24 teachers received a Christian book entitled, “Love Book.”  LHMT team, the pastor and church members are doing follow-up activities with the students.

The LHMT team received very good feedback from the school about the Valentine program.  Pastor Niwate Gietsornsi also was very happy with this first experience of partnering with LHMT.  He’s eager to do more activities with LHMT in the future, especially the Christmas school outreach program.
