LHMT Team has a Busy Day in Singburi

The morning of December 11, 2014 the Lultheran Hour Ministries Thailand (LHMT) team visited Wat Saardratbumrung School in Singburi. From 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. the team did two simultaneous programs.  Because the program for the younger students is not the same as the program for the older students, the team divided into two groups. One group worked with the 79 students in grades 1-6. The other group did their presentation to the 31 students in grades 7-9.

Both groups did some fun activities with the students and led them in singing several Christmas songs.  Prizes were given out during the activities and everyone received a free gift pack at the end of the programs.  To help the younger students understand the true meaning of Christmas, the LHMT staff showed them the video, “Red Boots for Christmas.” At the end of the video the students were asked a number of questions to make sure that they understood the message of the story.

Instead of watching the video, the older students participated in an English activity that used the letters of the word “Christmas” to explain the true meaning of Christmas. At the end of the programs the students knew that Christmas was a celebration of the birth of Jesus. They all had a fun time, learned the story about Jesus’ birth and asked the LHMT team to return to their school next year.

The LHMT team then had to quickly take down their equipment, pack the van and travel to Riewwha Wittayakom School, Angthong Province.  After unpacking the van and getting set up, the team did the second program from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon for 202 students in grades 7-9.  The students participated very enthusiastically in the activities and in singing the Christmas songs.  Once again the team used the letters from the word “Christmas” to share with 1-6 the students the true meaning of Christmas.

After a short break for lunch the LHMT team went to Wat Prachodtikaram School in Singburi Province.  Because this school also had primary and junior high school grades, the team once again divided into two groups.  From 1:00-3:00 p.m. one group did the songs, games and “Red Boots for Christmas” video with 115 students in grades 1-6 and the other group did the songs, games and activity with the letters from the word “Christmas” for 39 students in grades 7-9.

We are very thankful to Sampantachang Church and ACET Thailand for organizing these visits and for assisting us.  Without their help the LHMT team would not have been able to do 5 programs at 3 schools in one day.  Although it was quite a tiring day, the LHMT director and staff were very happy that everything went so well and that they were able to share the story of the birth of Jesus with the students and teachers at these 3 schools.  We thank God for blessing us and pray that the Holy Spirit will work in the hearts of everyone who heard the message today.
