KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAOn a community playground near the Nazarene Bangkok Church in Amonpan Suan Siam community more than 300 children and parents gathered to participate in special activities on Children’s Day, January 12, 2013. From 9:00am until noon the children enjoyed playing games, eating ice cream and sipping cold drinks. All of the children received prizes and everyone appreciated the free lunch.

At the invitation of the community chairman and Pastor Tanongsak Pongudta of Nazarene Bangkok Church, the organizers of the day’s program, Lutheran Hour Ministries Thailand (LHMT) provided three fun games for children as young as 3 years old. While the smaller children loved playing ring toss and mini-basketball, the older children seemed to love the challenge of playing Tangrams. Even a couple of short rain showers didn’t dampen the festive atmosphere.

Children's Day Activities06When LHMT staff led the activity on the stage, they gave guidelines for the children about having good behavior and told them about God’s love for them. In addition to the gifts that the children received from the church and community, LHMT gave special gifts that included Christian tracts to each of the children.

Children and adults alike had a great time and it was a good chance for the pastor and church members to meet and interact with more people from the community. The LHMT director and staff were happy to support the outreach ministry of the church and had a great time playing games and singing songs with the children.

Pastor Tanongsak, a member of the LHMT staff a number of years ago, really appreciated the assistance of the LHMT director and staff and asked if we would help with their Children’s Day program again next year.
