God’s Word a Guiding Light

Miss Gunyarat Teeport has 5 siblings and her eldest sister has a speech impediment (dumb).  Her family worships spirits and give things to appease the spirits as they do not know God.  The family is very poor and only has one meal a day and has to mix the rice with corn or whatever they have.  Even though the parents work in the fields Miss Gunyarat also had to work very hard to help her parents.  Her siblings have never attended school as they all had to keep working.  After her father died, her mother returned to Omgoi District in Chiangmai and left her with other people which made her devastated.

She had planned to commit suicide by hanging herself but people prevented from doing so.  After this her mother took Miss Gunyarat to live with her in Omgoi District and helped Miss Gunyarat to attend school.  Miss Gunyarat has moved to stay at a hostel where she came to know and believe in God.  She has applied to study the Bible Correspondence Courses of Journey Into Life as several of her friends are studying these courses.  Learning about God has given her peace and hope to carry on in life.  She said “It is because of God’s love that I have peace until this day. I continue to thank God.”  The BCC have helped her to know how she should lead her life and now is studying lesson 3 of the second course and says “My life has changed without me knowing it and I don’t have any more hardship as in the past.”  The Word of God is in her, God leads and guides her life so that she is able to move forward with confidence as she knows God will never leave her.  Miss Gunyarat plans to complete studying the correspondence courses which will help her to lead life according to God’s will.

Miss Gunyarat has asked for prayers for her as she leads her life so that she will have a close relationship with God and that at times, when she feels like giving up and that God will guide her and help overcome these times.  Currently, she is staying in a Christian hostel and requests for prayers that she will grow and become a faithful child of God.

Children Bible Camp

After the ETS workshop and Listener Gathering was done at Yasothon Church in Muang District of Yasothon Province in March 2009, LHM Thailand received very good cooperation in ministry with Yasothon Church faithfully.  Since then some children were referred from the church to study the Children Bible Study with us regularly.  During the school break the Yasothon Church requested our team to conduct the Children Bible Camp for 41 children age of 6-14 years on October 15-17, 2009.

The LHM team were able to meet the students from the Children Bible Study, got a chance to share the love of God to other children, encouraged the children to be able to express their ideas in action, and also helped the children, especially who are having the family problem to live well in society or in community with rules and discipline.  These children are seeking love and understanding.  The team was blessed to help the church in strengthening of skills and experience life to the children participating in activities and knowledge capabilities body and spiritual soul in God.

The camp went well in every activity.  And nearly all children said that the camp was very fun and also good mentally.  This was seen by many children who opened their minds and desire to seek help from the Lord, concern for parents, and their future.  Many children begin learning the story of God, which we could see from more discussion and attitude while bringing a prayer.  The children also asked us to conduct the camp again next year.

ETS at Jai Samarn Church in Samut Songkhram

On October 3, 2009, LHM Thailand received the second invitation from the Jai Samarn Church to conduct the Equipping The Saints for their new believers since they realized that the ETS workshop provided very practical ideas for sharing their faith.  Also the Jai Samarn Church hosted the first ETS workshop last year and became a very good partner in ministry with LHM Thailand.  The Jai Samarn Church is located in Muang District of Samut Songkhram Province, which is 90 Kilometers away from Bangkok.

There were 36 new believers from 4 churches who attended the workshop.  The LHM Thailand staff conducted one day workshop from 09:00 am – 05:30 pm.  We presented the 7 modules of LHM and Thailand Ministry, Why Evangelize, Evangelism, Recipes, Hospitality, Local Media, and Commissioning.  We thank God that the workshop went very well as scheduled and we received 10 ETS commissioned volunteers in this workshop.  We also received very good cooperation and feedback from the participants and churches.  Even some participants had to leave early before finished, they appreciated our workshop that they can use to share the Good News of Jesus Christ to the non-believers and also some other churches want to involve in ministry with LHM Thailand in the future.
